Hola SOTW community! We hope all of you are safe and healthy during this challenging time. Two weeks ago Costa Rica closed its borders, schools, restaurants, bars, and beaches. These proactive measures have kept the number of COVID-19 cases comparatively low and we’re all hopeful that the country will re-open soon. During our temporary shutdown, we have heard from many of you who want to know how you can help. Thank you, we appreciate all of your messages. You are what makes the SOTW so amazing and we miss all of you!
Thankfully, the SOTW family is healthy and facing this challenge with optimism and positivity. This is the same attitude and approach that many of you have experienced first hand as students here. We’ve all heard Cristian yell “Relax, breath, smile, and look down the line!” as we were surfing. It turns out this is solid advice when you’re learning to surf and when you’re fighting a global pandemic.
We are positive and optimistic about our future, but we know that even after Costa Rica opens its borders to travelers, it will take many months before everything is back to normal. Although the Costa Rican government has yet to create any programs to help small businesses and their employees survive this crisis, we believe that the SOTW alumni community will come together to overcome the COVID-19 crisis and ensure that we’re here to provide transformative learning vacations for another 23+ years!
Our goal is to take care of our SOTW family during our temporary shutdown. We are certain that if we can do that, we’ll be ready for you when the world reopens. To accomplish this we need the entire SOTW community to come together and help.
