The last few months have been nothing short of incredible. We’ve surfed with students from all over the globe. We’ve shared our yoga studio with both new and seasoned yogis. We’ve watched the Spanish language transform viewpoints and bridge cultures. And, we’ve captured all of these moments behind a camera lens.
While the green season has given us the moisture and rainfall that Costa Rica depends on, summer is almost here! Costa Rica’s dry season starts in December and goes through April. If you don’t want to worry about packing a raincoat, it’s a great time to visit Jacó.
Aside from spending countless hours surfing and soaking up the Pacific ocean, we like to spend our summer exploring Jacó and surrounding areas. For those of you in the Northern Hemisphere, it’s the perfect winter getaway. While it’s snowing where you are, it’s blue skys, perfect waves, and beautiful sun filled days here.
About an hour and half from Jacó is one of the world’s most diverse National Parks. Offering both the beach and the greenery of the rainforest, the park is a nature lover’s dream. Once inside the park, you’ll find islands, swamps and marine environments that are home to countless forms of wildlife – some on the endangered species list.
The trails in the park cover a variety of landscapes. You can hike through the rainforest finding lookouts on hillsides up to mountaintops. You can also hike along the coast. The beaches are protected from large waves so they are perfect place to swim. They are also beautiful white sand. Perfect for relaxing and sunbathing.
If your vacation isn’t complete without the thrill of an adventure, Jacó has exactly what you’re looking for. School of the World recommends a local adventure spot that our students rave about. Upside down ziplining, rugged trails that are perfect for ATVs and horseback riding, hikes to hidden waterfalls and for the super adventure traveler, you can sign up for extreme canyoning.
Spending the day outdoors, exploring Costa Rica and getting your adrenaline running is the perfect balance to a learning vacation. Without the threat of rainy skies, the tours rarely get canceled or cut short.
If you’re looking for a more relaxing summertime getaway, School of The World is just the right vibe. When you’re not immersed in a lesson, you can relax by the pool, read a book in one of the hammocks in the courtyard, take a walk along the beach or cook a meal in our community kitchen.
Over the years, we’ve listened to our students and have taken their feedback to create a home away from home. When the sun is shining and the weather is just right, it’s hard to have a bad day in Jacó.
